Due to time limitation and the lack of internet access in my room, I will be brief. This year, we serve 2 schools (hereafter shall be named as D & Y). Jon & his daughter Rebecca are in Y and the rest us in D.
English Language Summer Camp of 2010. Our daily schedule as follow:
Daily Schedule for Teachers
7.10am Breakfast
8.00am Leave for schools
8.15am Morning Assembly (We need to be there 8.15 sharp)
8.30am – 11.30am English Teaching in classrooms
11.30am Staff meeting
12.00pm Lunch (back at hotel)
12.30pm – 3.30pm Rest or class preparation
4.00pm Games
5.30pm Evening Meal (at the school)
7.00pm Evening activities
Each school sends 300 students to the camp. Each class has 20 students and 3 to 4 teachers.
On the first day, we began with a general assembly of all students and teachers, where teachers were introduced to the school officials and students. Classes followed immediately.
Everyone felt exhausted after a long day, particularly due to over 100F temperature and high humidity. Things went real well.
On Tuesday, 07/14, Students and teachers get to know each other better and there were more excitements in the classrooms. Due to hot temperature, we confined much of the games and activities in door. Other than normal classroom work, there was a “basket weaving” class for all. Quite fun!
In the Multi-media session, students were introduced to the topic of “Evolution & Creation”, with class discussion to follow. To my surprise, 3 students believe that we are created, and not evolved from monkey.
Due to internet access and speed problems, I can not post pictures (I have hundreds of them) at this time.
I have to sign off now as I have a team meeting coming up to discuss and plan for week-end programs.
Please continue your prayers.
Blessings from Summer Camp. Posted by SL.
China Team…we are reading your blog and praying for you. Hang in there with the weather, sounds tough. Its also a reminder of how lucky we are to live in such luxury with air conditioning and mild weather. It’s getting hot this week at home though…90′s but little humidity.
Look forward to welcoming you back home!
